Krou (aka Patrick Krouchian), originally from Montreal, is a composer,
producer and DJ residing in Brooklyn. His first release, self-titled "krou,"
is a collection of older material written upon first moving to New York from
Los Angeles in the summer of 2000.
From the filmic swing of "Orly," to the frantic breaks of "Gelatin" and
ghostly choirs of "Neuroscape," the tracks on this debut release play
melodic themes against often dark, lush backdrops, drawing their inspiration
from artists including Enio Morricone, John Barry, Charles Aznavour, Massive
Attack and Amon Tobin.
Krou also writes music for television and radio commercials as a freelancer
and has produced three remixes for Rock River Music. Other projects include
Commuter, a tech-house-breaks collaborative duo with Brooklyn producer
Vasili Gavre, and Eyewash, a bi-weekly audio-visual performance event in NYC
for which he is a regular DJ. He has also written music for two short films,
including "Eden" by Robin Antiga and "The Interview" by Scott Province. He
is presently writing the score for the film "George" by Christopher
Karallis.
A new album is in progress, scheduled for release later this year. |
